Adding a Pep to Our Step

One of my most favourite experiences is juicing with my daughters.  Their enthusiasm and creativity is inspiring not only to me but my mom friends as well.  As soon as the girls see the cutting board, lemons and the juicer pulled forward, I hear “Mommy, can I help?”.

After a long day at the zoo yesterday, our bodies were in need of a “pick me up” this morning.  I skipped my organic ganoderma lucidum coffee, while Sophia (my little hands of the morning) headed straight to the fridge to grab some greens for our juice.

(makes 2 ½ cups)

A zippy energy boosting drink for any time of the day!


  • 6 Kale leaves, ribs discarded
  • 2 Lemons, zest and pith removed
  • 2 Apples
  • 2 Knobs of ginger (we love ginger)
  • A handful of parsley
  • ½ Cucumber
  • Step 1 Put everything through a juicer
  • Step 2 Enjoy!

Why is this juice so good for us? This juice is packed full of antioxidants, rich in nutrients like Vitamin K, C and A, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory drink.  It also helps with detoxification at a cellular level because of glucosinolates  (a large group of sulfur-containing glucosides), contributes to heart health, and gastrointestinal issues.

Juicing is fun and easy especially when you have little helpers who are eager to lend a hand.
